Ansar Ahmed Ullah:Contributing Editor:The fourth Bangabandhu book fair ended on Sunday 19 March with a cultural function themed on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh. Prior to the cultural event there was a discussion meeting attended by Minister for Cultural affairs Asaduzzaman Noor, Bangla Academy’s director Shamsuzzaman Khan, renowned columnist Abdul Gaffar Choudhury, UK Awami League’s president Sultan Shariff, Bangabandhu Centre’s chairman Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury amongst others. They spoke about the importance of passing Bangabandhu’s ideals to young people.
The fair was held at Ilford Town Hall, East London. It started on Friday 17 March ending on Sunday.
There was also an arts competition for children. The winners received various prizes from the organisers. The organisers of the book fair Prashanta Barua, journalist Bulbul Hassan and Jamal Ahmed Khan distributed Bangabandhu’s Unfinished Memoirs free of charge to those who attended the fair. The event was jointly held by European College of Law, Centre for Bangladesh Studies and Bangabandhu Centre with the assistance of Bangladesh’s cultural ministry.
